Joanne Kuai is an Affiliate of the the ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making & Society (ADM+S) from RMIT University.

A Research Fellow at RMIT University, her research interests include digital journalism, the social implications of automation and algorithms, and data and AI governance.

She is an instructor for the JournalismAI Academy hosted by Polis at LSE, a regular contributor to the New Books Network podcast, and the incoming Student and Early Career Representative Elect for the Journalism Studies Division of the International Communication Association (ICA).

Prior to her academic career, Joanne worked as a reporter, editor and news anchor in China for over a decade.
